BII Launches PEAT
Released
02/07/2010
Summary
BII’s long awaited Pre-Entry Awareness Training otherwise known as PEAT is now available. PEAT is an interactive e-learning package designed for new entrants to the pub industry, to help them understand the complexities of tenancy or lease agreements.

The purpose of PEAT is to highlight the main issues to be considered and investigated before a tenancy or lease agreement is signed. This will ensure that tenants and lessees in England and Wales are aware of the implications of the tied pub model as well as being informed about the different types of agreements available, rental calculations, the legal consequences of breach of agreement and much much more.
PEAT has been developed in response to the report from the Business Innovation and Skills Committee on the pub company model to deliver the pre-entry training requirement outlined in the Pub Industry Framework Code of Practice. It will enable individuals to evaluate the agreement which they are seeking to enter and advise them of other issues of which they may not have necessarily been aware.
Neil Robertson Chief Executive of BII said “This is a very important step for the industry and is one of the reasons why we signed up to the Code. But, most importantly, this training will save tenants and lessees money.”
The advice and guidance from industry experts included in PEAT can be accessed by those wishing to enter the industry for just £20 with an average learning time of 2 hours. Go to www.bii.org/peat for more information and to access PEAT.
