BII Appoints New Finance Director

56-year-old Henry is extremely well versed in financial management within the charity sector having joined BII from the World Society for the Protection of Animals where he held the Director of Finance & Facilities post for six years. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director of Finance at the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.

Henry’s early career saw him working for two FTSE-100 companies then running his own high street accountancy practice providing business, accountancy and tax advice to small businesses, where he specialised in working with pubs.

A graduate and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Henry teaches accountancy at a leading business school and is a trustee and the treasurer of RP Fighting Blindness.

Henry joins BII at an exciting time. The organisation has significant development and diversification plans for 2010 and beyond and Henry will play a vital role in advising and reporting to the management committee and national council as they implement new strategies.

He commented: “The licensed retail sector is very much in the public eye and BII as the professional body has much to contribute. 90% of what we do is below the waterline and we will be striving to raise standards and demonstrate the positive aspects of the sector, which provides hospitality and entertainment to millions of customers, career opportunities for thousands of owners, managers and staff, and contributes massively to the economy.”

BII Treasurer Peter Thomas added: “We are delighted to welcome Henry to the finance team at Camberley. He brings a wealth of experience from the charity sector as well as a solid grounding in the licensed trade. The financial elements of BII’s plans for the future are very important and Henry, as the new Finance Director, is just the person to coordinate this work.”

Henry is married and lives in Watford, Hertfordshire. Aside from a passion for the charity sector, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and watching rugby union.
